Matheus Garcia Cunha
Head Kids Coach
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt
Born in Barueri, São Paulo, Brazil, Coach Matheus began training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu at the age of 11 with the goal of losing weight. What started as a simple health decision, quickly turned into a lifelong passion and purpose. He was first introduced to the art under the guidance of respected professors Charles Duende and Roberto Godói.
At just 16 years old, Matheus left Brazil to compete at the IBJJF European Championship in Portugal — his first major international trip. From that point forward, he never stopped traveling, chasing his dreams and competing around the world.
Between the ages of 17 and 19, Matheus trained and competed as a member of the prestigious Art of Jiu-Jitsu (AOJ) team in Costa Mesa, California under the supervision of multiple-time IBJJF and ADCC Jiu-Jitsu World Champions Rafael and Guilherme Mendes, where he refined his technique and mindset alongside some of the sport’s top athletes. To this day, the AOJ has one of the strongest kids programs in the World.
Now a black belt promoted in 2024 by World-Class Competitor and Instructor, Pedro Rocha, Matheus has earned multiple titles and podium finishes in tournaments hosted by the IBJJF (International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation) and CBJJ (Confederação Brasileira de Jiu-Jitsu). He is recognized for his technical, aggressive, and strategic style on the mats.
Matheus’ specialty is helping get the most development out of kids. He has completed specialized training with Master Leão Teixeira and Professor Roberto Godói, two leading figures in Jiu-Jitsu curriculum development. His classes for children focus not only on physical development but also on discipline, emotional growth, and character-building through Jiu-Jitsu.
Aside from his accolades as a youth instructor, Matheus has taught internationally at well-respected academies such as the Frota Academy in Zurich, Switzerland and GFT Brno in the Czech Republic, working with students of all levels and sharing his knowledge of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu globally.
Kelley Wilson
Assistant Kids Coach
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt
Taekwondo Black Belt - Third Degree
Originally from Mableton, Georgia, Kelley began his martial arts journey at the age of 7. Through years of dedication and discipline, he earned his 3rd degree Black Belt in Taekwondo by the age of 15. This is where Coach Kelley’s passion for teaching, especially younger martial artists, began to take place.
In 2015, Kelley moved to Texas and continued to grow both personally and professionally. Aside from his dedication to Jiu-Jitsu, he is also a Law Enforcement Officer as his profession. In 2019, Kelley discovered a passion for Jiu-Jitsu while living in Flower Mound, TX. His journey took a meaningful turn in 2023 when signing up at the Eclipse as a purple belt. Since then, Eclipse has become more than a team of athletes —it’s been a home.
In 2024, Coach Kelley was promoted to Brown Belt and has competed in multiple local tournaments at the brown and black belt levels in addition to helping with Kids Classes at Eclipse. His ability to push his limits and encourage others around him is inspiring given his busy schedule as a husband, father, and an integral part of the Eclipse Community.
